At the opening night of Gamescom held last night, Sony surprised the audience by unveiling the PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge controller.
Since the launch of the first-ever PlayStation console in 1994, Sony has never released a Pro model for its DualSense controllers. Neither for wired controllers nor for wireless controllers. The newly released DualSense Edge controller for PlayStation 5 happens to be the first-ever high-performance ultra-customizable controller ever developed by Sony Entertainment.
According to Sony, the new Sony customizable PS5 is designed to enhance your gaming experience by allowing you to create custom controls based on your own gaming style. This new controller doesn’t just give you the ability to make software customizations. It also gives you the option to customize the hardware parts.
What are the custom options for the PlayStation 5 DualSence Edge?
Ultra-customizable controls: DualSense Edge lets you remap or disable certain button inputs to fine-tune your aim by adjusting the analog sensitivity. You will have an adjustable range of the analog stick.
Ability to save multiple control profiles: Once you’re able to find your preferred control settings, DualSense Edge gives you the ability to save them and use them whenever you want. You can save separate control profiles for different games.
Controller UI: DualSense Edge comes with a dedicated fn (function) button that lets you easily adjust settings even while gaming. Use this key to switch between preset controller profiles and control game volume.
Back Buttons You Can Change Bar Caps: Depending on your comfort level, you can change the bar caps to suit you. With replaceable caps, you have three different options to choose from Standard, High Dome, and Low Dome. The two back buttons can also be changed to different inputs. This will help you keep your most used buttons where you feel comfortable.
DualSence Edge left nothing behind
Interchangeable analog modules: With the new DualSense Edge, you can enjoy your controller as long as you want. When your analog breaks down along the way, you don’t have to throw it in the trash or take it in for repair. Sony gives you the option to buy a new replacement and easily repair it yourself.
Built-in DualSense Wireless Control Features: With all these customizable features you get from the DualSense Edge, Sony still gives you the experience of a standard DualSense controller. You still get haptic feedback, an internal microphone, and motion controls in the DualSense Edge.
What’s in the PlayStation 5 DualSence edge controller
Unlike the standard DualSense, which is not included in the box. The Sony PS5 DualSense has been packaged as a true Pro controller. In the box, you will find all the bar caps I mentioned above. The back buttons can be found inside the box. For the first time, Sony has also provided a braided Type-C cable for charging the controller in the box. To keep everything safe while using them, you also get a carrying case.
This also helps to carry the entire package easily. Another good thing about the carrying case is that Sony has created a hole in the case. This hole helps to charge the controller even when it is still in the case. One thing Sony hasn’t done yet is let the public know when the controller will go on sale.
