Owned by Blizzard Entertainment, Diablo 3 is the third installment of the franchise. Released way back in 2012, Diablo 3 is still a popular game among players desperate for horror and thriller. New seasons for gruesome tales are being released every three months but does it support cross-platform? Here is everything you need to know.
Diablo 3
Horror fantasy is always one of the best-selling genres in video games. Based on fights between angels and demons, Diablo III is the third game of the Diablo game series developed and owned by an American video game publisher Blizzard Entertainment. The basic infrastructure of the game is almost the same as Diablo and Diablo II. Being a dark fantasy game, players have to choose their heroes, level them up, provide them with suitable gear and gain experience as the game progresses.
Firstly, launched for Microsoft Windows and OS X 10 years ago in May 2012 Diablo III is still loved by most of the fans. It could be possible because of the continuous release of new seasons every three months. Although the company has announced the release of a sequel in 2019 which is still awaiting and expected to be released in 2023. Players always wanted to play their game as a cross-platform franchise. Here is the most updated information about Diablo III being cross-platform.
Is Diablo III cross-platform?
Blizzard Entertainment studio seems to be very excited about the future of the Diablo Franchise as they are expanding the franchise with newer projects including Diablo IV and Diablo Immortal which is their first mobile-based video game. There is no doubt that these newer projects are also getting attention but this is nowhere close to the attention and excitement that comes with every new season of Diablo III almost every 3 months. If you are one of those who are getting curious about cross-platform play in Diablo III. It is very unfortunate to tell you that Diablo III does not offer any kind of cross-platform play. If you are playing on PS, you can only be matched with other PS players. Players are not able to ally with someone not from the same platform they are playing on.
Is it possible in the future?
The same question was answered by a representative of Blizzard Entertainment way back in 2018. He stated that they are also very excited about any idea which could bring their players from all platforms together but they are currently not working on any idea of cross-platform play. He also confirmed that there is no near future plan by Blizzard Entertainment studio for the cross-platform play of Diablo III.
